I am looking for Vera Cooper (do not know married name). I was best friends with her in the 1940s. I came across this web site and thought I would leave a message for Vera or anyone who knows of Vera Cooper. Sybil

I am revising and updating the Awde Family History and am looking for all descendants of George Awde and Jane Allan. We have about 3500 individuals listed, including some of our cousins from Quebec, but there are a lot of loose ends. I welcome messages from everyone who may be part of our family, or who have information on the Awde/Hodgson/Clarke/Gowling relations.

The reviews for the current movie "The Human Stain" are not good, but nevertheless some scenes are of local interest since they were shot in Hudson at "Riversmead"! Here are two related websites: (1) http://www.hudson-village.com/news0204231.htm and (2) http://siliclone.tripod.com/books/main/M245.html .

For many years I have joked about the effects of Global warming and how in many years from now we would have an ideal climate. Most of us in central Canada are not amused with our winters and would not mind our climate being a little warmer in the dark season. However, in the light of recent storms that I have lived through perhaps I should be praying instead of making jokes. Storms such as Hurricane Juan should of died before making landfall on the late night hours of September 28 th. It has always been the case due too the cold ocean currents that normally disperse the energy of these storms. Today I learned that this was not the case with Juan, it in fact picked up some energy before pounding the Nova Scotia coast that night. It has been blamed on global warming and a warmer then normal gulf stream that was just off the coast of Nova Scotia. I knew something was odd while on vacation in the Maritimes due to the fact we could actually swim in the ocean and did not turn blue. The North Atlantic was actually mild and never in my many visits since my youth was I able to dive into the surf. The infamous Ice Storm of 98 was another instance of Global warming and El Nino. We normally see a few freezing rain storms in the early parts of every winter. Instead we had five days of freezing rain and on a few of these days it poured. When the wind whipped up on the second day with the combination of layers of ice on everything, the damage was beyond our imagination. Five days of freezing rain in the early part of January is completely out of whack! While many will say that we had a extremely cold winter last year and yes you would be right, it is however the exception to the norm. We have had above average temperatures for over ten years now. Last winter in the cold we had what could be called a winter drought the likes of which again have never been seen in this area. In the Maritimes last winter all it did was rain and snow and it was wetter then the West Coast. What happened to the huge snowfalls of our youth and the so called normal winters? In my neck of the woods the summer Thunderstorms are as powerful of those in Southern Ontario and for the first time in living memory we get Tornado warnings in the Ottawa Valley. Much hotter summers for years with less rainfall has meant many people in my area have had to go too the expense of digging deeper wells, and in the local towns water restrictions in the summer happen all the time. The climate is going through some serious changes and I have started to notice it. I just thought the weather was being the weather totally unpredictable. Most climate changes follow a cycle and the cycle has been broken and extremely altered. We must take precautions roughts and crop failures and the Ice Storm of 98. http://www.eia.doe.gov/oiaf/kyoto/kyotorpt.html Our greatest concern is not global terrorism it is global warming.

FOY and THOMAS FAMILY HISTORY in Vaudreuil I am researching my ancestors, specifically John Thomas 1751-1822 who moved to 404 Main Road Como,Hudson in 1814. He was Anglican and several of his children and grandchildren were baptized/married in St. James Anglican Church. He does not appear to be buried there and I wonder if he could be buried at St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery which is probably closer to Como. His daughter Eleanor Thomas and her husband Peter Foy 1790-abt 1851, AND his daughter Charlotte Thomas 1788-1843 and her husband Peter Spence 1777-1855 lived on farms in Vaudreuil. I do not know where they are buried. Other Thomas children lived in Vaudreuil. I am particulary interested in any information regarding Peter Foy(e) who immigrated from Ireland around 1815 and may have been engaged in the lumbering business. I am interested in any publications which may contain information regarding this family. I understand that there is a sketch of "Residence of John Thomas on Site of Manson Family Farmhouse" by A. Donaldson. I would like to obtain a copy of this or any other print or painting is one exists. I would bery much appreciate any information or leads which anyone can give me. Sincerely, Helen Wyse

Does anyone remember Alison Bailey. Attended both Hudson Elementary and High School. The people I remember are Mona Simpson, Mary Thompson, Freida Rolf. My fifth grade teacher was Mrs Czapaly in 1963 (I think). I am still in touch with Rosanne Garrison and the Baker girls, Joanne, Dale and Ruth. I live in England, am married with three children and two dogs.

Does anyone from the 1959-60 Kindergarten Class of Mrs. Moffatt and Mrs. Davis (held in the Wyman Church Hall basement) have a copy of the class picture and all the names? I am trying to fill in a lot of blanks...after all, we've all changed somewhat and are now turning 50! Yikes! Happy Birthday this year to all my old classmates!
