What a great message board! I lived in Como from 1957 through 1961, attending grades 1-5 at Hudson Elementary School on Mt. Pleasant Road. My teachers were Mrs. Lane (the principal), Mrs. Czapaly, Mrs. Collins, Mrs. Rhodes, and Mrs. Czapaly (again - what a great teacher!). Some classmates were Michael Lamb, Brian Parkinson, Jamie Robinson, Christopher Ralston, Chris Dohler (tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in New Brunswick when attending university), Sally Hallford, Brenda Hoggan, Nancy Collins, Nancy Ruddick, Mark Armstrong, and Karen Runnels. Other friends were Sandy MacDonald, Paul and Philippe (Willy) Gélinas (my cousins), Tony Beauregard, the D'Artois family, and many more! The Como police chief was Const. Pooley and he was about 6 feet 6 inches, although he seemed taller. My uncle and aunt, Fred and Naomi Henshaw are still in Hudson and have a bread & breakfast business in the old family home "Riversmead" on the Main Road. My cousin Helen Henshaw lives in Hudson as well. My ancestors first moved to Como in the first part of the 1800s, so it's nice that some of the family and extended family are still there. Many of you will remember my older brothers: Graham, Gordon, and Philip (who died 1964), and younger twin sisters Brenda and Ruth. My parents Helen (Henshaw) Hunter and Jim Hunter were married in St. Mary's Church in August 1942 and both live near us in Ottawa. Memories: while I was only 11 when I moved away from Hudson, I have come back to visit on holidays and during summers. I remember Ben's, the HYC, picnics at the Gobi Desert, Cubs, playing in an outdoor hockey league on the Hudson Rink and playing little league baseball in the early summer when it was a ball diamond. Another fond memory was seeing my mother in Hudson Players' Club plays at HHS. We have lots of photos and home movies going back to the early '50s of Hudson activities. All the best to everyone in Hudson and to all the ex-Hudsonites! Ian Hunter

I recently found out that Mike Gourgourinis (Galerie Mihalis)passed away a few years ago. I found the news devastating as I worked for Mike and Peggy for a number of years at their Montreal, and then Hudson location before relocating to Ottawa. I was very fond of them and of their two daughters, and would like to know if anyone can provide some information as to what would have happened to him at such a young age. I have tried locating Gallery Mihalis (Boca Raton) on the web, but I am not sure it is still in operation. Thank you in advance for your help.

just found this site, as well as a friend i have not seen for 24 years. Lived and went to Hudson High in early to middle 70's. I graduated in 1975. I have thought of beautiful Hudson often over the years, Pit Parties, Ben's,Veaudreau Quarry on a hot summers day, St.Lazare Hotel on weekends. Good friends. I found Nora yesterday, and hope to find Laura M, Dinger, Brian M. You know who you are. I am now planning to make the trip from Ab to the reunion in 2003. I have checked out your site now and I plan to do so often in the near future. I have lived many places in Canada, but Hudson brings back the most vivid and cherished memories. Hope some friends read this and get in touch. How about Bettina P? Bye for now, and best to all.

Hello from Holland! I have been in Hudson a few times and I really enjoyed every single stay. Especially last Christmas! This Christmas scenery was a bit of magic to me! All those decorations, the lights on the houses, but above all the white landscape. I hope I will be back soon! Mark and Lise from St. Lazare: if you read this, please, send me your E-mail address!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who reads this and knows who Mark (he works at Merck Frost's) and Lise (they own 3 beautiful Irish wolfhounds) are, please, let them know I am looking for them! Hello Hudson, My husband, two children (age 3 and 16 months)and myself will be emigrating to Montreal early in November. After a brief visit in May we have decided we would like to live in the Hudson area as we thought it was a beautiful area. We would be very grateful if anyone could send information on mother and toddler groups, pre-school, nursery/kindergarden (French and English) and schools (from elementary upwards, French and English). Also any community activties which we could be involved in. My husband works for Rolls-Royce and his job is being transfered, hence the move. Regards, Claire Robbins

Re: Paul Smith's photos: The photo on the lower left shows Ian Ritchie, Barb Thomas (Matthews), and Bunny (John) Welch at Hudson Yacht Club in 1958 (I think!). They are leaning on a Y Flyer, which displays their sailing trophies, including the Sear's Cup. Wendy Thomas (Levinson) Montreal

Congratulations on your Supreme Court victory! It has set a new standard in managing pests on private properties within a municipal boundaries. This is certainly excellent news for other municipalities, not only within PQ but also in the rest of Canada. Someone in the town hall was kind enough, several years ago, to send me a copy of the bylaw when it was in draft form. I no longer have access to the draft. Would it be possible to send me a copy of the final by-law, please? Thanks you. Again, congratulations and thank you for standing up for your convictions. Hello Hudson - I just returned home to Maine after visiting Hudson. I stayed at the Willow Inn and what a wonderful place that is. The rooms are so beautifully decorated with antiques and nostalgic wallcoverings. I was only able to stay for two days but am looking forward to coming back very soon. Your city reminds me very much of mine. Hope to see you all again soon, especially AB.

Hello Hudson. It seems so long since I've been back to Hudson. It's only been 2 years since I last visited but it feels much longer. I'd like to say hi to all my friends and family back there and hope if you see this message you'll send me an email and let me know what's going on. I miss all of you so much and really regret not keeping in touch. Well, I'm about to get married on September 1st, 2001 to the wonderful man who I moved to BC for in 1998. I hope to come back to visit after the wedding. A big hello to all the grads of 1994. Take care

What a hoot! I'm tripping down memory lane and now am terribly late for work! My brother Bruce has summed up our family whereabouts! My favourite memories are summers at the Yacht club. How about we do a swim marathon? How about the Rho-De-Bai café for hot chocolate and peanut butter on toast? (Mesdames Rhoades, Deacon, Bailey - you are engraved in our collective memory forever!) Also, all the nick names - Ugly, Pest, Weird, Stinky...I hope those ones haven't stuck beyond Hudson boundaries, they are a little difficult to explain. Hope to see many faces in summer 2003. I'll make a point of being there.
