Rigaud's Festival des Couleurs in Full Swing
The seventh annual Rigaud festival celebrating the fall colours of the area is set to go October 8 - 10 and up to 15,000 visitors are expected. The festival keeps growing in size with many free activities. This year, in addition to chairlift rides up the mountain, visitors can enjoy face painting, rock climbing, craft sales and art exhibits. John Horrocks, a local musician will be playing, Sucrerie de la Montagne will offer sweets and the Maison du Defricheur will have chocolate delicacies.
The "Train des Couleurs" will make its usual special round trip from Montreal to Rigaud on Sunday, October 9th. Started originally as a trial by the AMT, the special train has become very popular and about 800 people are expected to take the tour along the Lake of Two Mountains to Rigaud this year.
While the fall colours are a little late this year, the many families who turn out for this event can expect a wonderful time outdoors on Mont Rigaud without having to deal with heavy traffic on the way to the Laurentians or the mountains of the Eastern Townships.
